Music, music, more music, and.... sites?

I installed TweetDeck on my mom's computer, the same Twitter app I had on my laptop before it decided to be a jerkbender. When I used it before, I never really paid attention to the graphic/web design tweets that I got on my other account. Needless to say, in the past week I've favorited 50+ of them for resources and tutorials (I mean, who doesn't like free shit, right?)

I also rediscovered Pandora a few days ago. I've been messing with my 94.9 knock-off station. I modeled it after FM 94.9 back in San Diego (back when, in my opinion, it was still good). Maybe it still is good, but the last time I streamed it from their site I was a bit disappointed at the music selection on there. There's a bunch of reggae on it because I kept thumbing up those songs, haha. And then I realized there was too much reggae, so I added in Incubus, RHCP, Weezer, and Smashing Pumpkins for some variety (I have no idea why they weren't on there before). I should add The Strokes in too, just for kicks.

I have another station based off The Big Sonic Chill. That was probably my favorite part about staying out late with my friends: driving home at 2am and listening to artists like Via Satellite on the radio.

As for sites... well... I sort of fail at being punctual about anything, whether it be lunch or chores, so it's no surprise that I am incredibly slow at updating my sites. I'm thinking after I BS a layout for my collective, I'll install WordPress again and try it out. There's probably some tutorial online that gives me a breakdown of all the PHP code. I've coded it before based on just the information given on WordPress.org, but I'm too lazy to go through all that shit again. Although, now that I think about it, a tutorial for those code snippets will essentially be the same as reading it off WordPress.org, but at least then I could curse the idiot who wrote the tutorial itself and not WordPress, and I won't feel the need to say "Fuck this" and give up on getting another blog up.

This Vox blog is the longest one I've kept in all my years of blogging, which happens to be a lot considering my junior high years of bitching about my life... Well, I still bitch about my life. That hasn't changed. But compared to how I used to write, it's a lot different.... sometimes.... unless I'm fangirling because I get all "OMG HE IS SO EFFIN' HOT HOLY MOTHER OF-" and most people, no matter how literate they are, feel stupider after reading my entries because it always seems like those entries are written in a completely different language.

Yeah, it's called "crazy fangirl" speech.

I've been kind of lazy to do any graphic design since I took that break from new media classes this past semester. So if I get anything up, it's going to be incredibly bland.... like a white background with just text, haha. Actually, a lot of minimalist themes are pretty much just that. Some developers don't even need to use graphics on some layouts because the typography they use is interesting enough in itself.

I've also been looking into jQuery recently. I wasn't too interested in it when I first heard about it, probably because, at the time, I was cursing my JavaScript class to Hell and back, but I've been reeled into its evil clutches now.

They have quite a few cool scripts, some that even help with the loading time for your site (e.g., delaying the loading of images until you scroll to them on a page). It's actually pretty useful. Plus, they got these cool transitions for elements that make it seem like Flash was used, but it's really only JavaScript.

I'm pretty much sold on this thing. I'm sure you can tell.

I feel bad sometimes though. My interests are always changing. One minute I'm into Kpop and stalking MBLAQ and U-Kiss, the next I'm drooling over script and wanting to revamp my site. I kind of feel guilty whenever I talk about this stuff on my Twitter because I know most, if not all, of my followers are Kpoppers who only want to read about Kpop stuff, but I end up tweeting about my breakfast and how much creeper!RDJ turns me on. Okay, maybe not that, but I hardly tweet about Kpop anymore. I think I'll have to make it a point to keep watching idol shows and stuff so I can spazz with the rest of them, lol.

It's a good thing I have Tumblr to keep me up-to-date with all the fuckyeah blogs :P Although, following gluttonyisabliss on Tumblr proved to be a HUGE mistake because I always get hungry when I see the pictures they post on my dashboard ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ And I'm pretty sure whoever runs that Tumblog is a fucking mindreader because they always post shit that I'm in the mood to eat. Like that one time I was bitching at Thu for eating sushi, THEY FUCKING POSTED A MILLION PICTURES OF SUSHI and I was like "Goddamn.... I hate you."

Anyway, that's all for now. I should really try and stop cursing... I think some people are more than offended at my language sometimes, haha.

Bad ideas.

It's a bad idea to watch Gintama so early in the morning. I've laughed so much that I can't even go back to sleep, but I guess that's alright... even though I only got 4 hours... It sorta takes me back to my days before midterms when I would stay up and work on a project due the next day that I, technically, had a couple months to do but was only getting around to doing it a day before. Fun times.

It's also a bad idea to put sugar in your coffee if there's lumps of sugar in the container and you try shaking it and end up putting a tablespoon too much of sugar in your coffee. I feel like I'm drinking a heart attack right now.

The reason why I'm up so early, and probably the same reason why my mom was nice enough to make me breakfast today, was because we had storm warnings this morning around 6am or so and she woke me up, telling me to hurry down to the basement. I hate going down to the basement, but like Mother says, "It's better to be safe than sorry."

Yeah, I definitely don't want to end up dying after my house gets torn apart by 80 mph winds... not that the winds were that bad today, but we had some lightning warnings and the winds were pretty strong, though not in my county so it wasn't too bad.

I hate being woken up early for no reason - and, as it turns out, there was no reason for me to wake up since the storm kind of bypassed us and all we got were a few flashes of lightning, some thunder, and a lot of rain - but it's better that nothing happened at all compared to the alternative.

Plus, watching Gintama in the morning is really helping my mood :D so is drinking coffee, but that's not as healthy as Gintama... Well, both of them are bad for your health, I guess.

Priorities

I've decided to quit Twitter until I get the layout at my collective, hahaha... Oh gosh. I might be gone for months if it's like this, but at least it'll give me time to actually get off my lazy bum and design it. I was brainstorming a layout earlier (for the first time in my life) and it's.... well, it's a pretty crappy start to be honest.

I was looking at past layouts I'd done before, all from my high school years back when I had been hosted by various people (maliciouz.net, teknikz.net) and then bought my first domain (soul-theory.net <- best domain name I have come up with to date, lol). It was pretty much just me reminiscing about the times and the people I've met, lost in touch with... I wonder if any of them continued on with a graphic design career or not. There were a bunch of talented kids on the net back then. Well, there still are, but it was more of a community to me back then as compared to now. I don't even talk to people who own sites anymore, just people who share the same interests/fandoms as me on Twitter and Livejournal.

I guess I've changed a lot too, though. Most of the reason why I got along well with people then was because I was into all the stuff they were into at the time: Vectors (well, vexels anyway), different types of music than what I listen to now, and I was more active with my site, which meant that people could actually get a hold of me without waiting months for a response like how I am now, lol.

I kind of miss it. The commenting on people's sites and getting to know other website people. It was fun times. But I guess now that I've grown up, commenting on people's sites isn't that important to me, nor is making friends on the internet. Right now, the internet is merely an information portal for me, not a place where I go to socialize, though I do some of that too I guess.

It's changed a lot in the past 8 years. I've changed a lot, too, and I guess that's what has, consequently, changed my view of the internet. I'm not sure if I could be labeled as more mature compared to my past self, but I hope I've grown up since then. Even if I don't plan on continuing to pursue a career in new media, I don't think there will ever be a time when I don't have a domain, haha.

Also, I should probably stop cursing so much.

I've seen the trailer for Avatar: The Last Airbender about 3-4 times now. Of course, because of that Ferngully rip-off, the movie version isn't called Avatar: The Last Airbender, it's just labeled as The Last Airbender, which I suppose is alright, but goddamn you and your stupid blue monkey, flying dinosaur bonding, army combating, Ferngully film!

Anyway, on a whole, I'm kind of looking forward to seeing it, even if they did majorly fuck up the casting. Okay, firebenders aren't supposed to be brown. Not that I have a problem with people of color since I am a person of color too, but they're PALE and ANGSTY(ANGRY) FUCKS in the cartoon. And the water benders of the Southern Tribe are the ones that are brown. I mean, how can you fuck that up so badly?

But before I get into a tirade about the casting, they didn't mess it up for everyone. Aang is casted well, I think. I heard that the kid who plays him is studying martial arts and it looks like he's really good. Princess Yue (the moon spirit) has been casted well too. Just... Katara and Sokka are kind of... not. And Firelord Ozai and Prince Zuko are also, um... not.

I'm kind of looking forward to seeing how that dude from Twilight will be as Sokka. Sokka is sarcastic, hilarious, and just the type of character you can't help but laugh at. He's practically the only source of comic relief for the series, apart from Uncle Iroh and his tea parties. If you haven't seen the series, I'm joking about the tea party thing, but he does have an unreal love for tea.

Also, the girl who plays Katara looks kind of weak. If I'm honest, even the film's Sokka looks pretty weak, but Katara is supposed to be all I'm-a-waterbender-so-you-don't-want-to-fuck-with-me meanwhile having this motherly but mostly nag-y attitude with everyone. I mean, if that chick in the movie told me to wash the dishes, I'd be like "Fuck you!" because I could probably take her in a fight. I would not mess with cartoon character!Katara though. Hell no. She'd drown me... in my sleep...

The Southern Water Tribe is sort of like a really sad place to be because they've practically lost all hope after losing all (but one) of their waterbenders, but you don't gotta make them out to be complete pansies! They look like they're going to burst into tears over a butterfly getting smashed or something.

Are they coming out with more AtLA movies, or just this one? 'Cause Crazybitchsister Azula doesn't turn up until the second season of AtLA, so I'm pretty sure she's not in this movie. The effects look pretty cool though. I saw rockbenders :DDDDD

I hope they have more movies, even if the casting is 90% shit. I want to see who they get for Azula and Jet (read: I want to see if they can fuck up the casting even more for the next film [assuming it will exist]). And was it just me or did I not see an Uncle Iroh in the previews? Laaaame.

Ah, well. Aang, go kick some firebender ass (not Zuko's though 'cause he's my favorite) :P

I saw Prince of Persia the other day. It was alright. I never played the game (I wanted to, but I didn't have the system for it haha). Something that could have sold the movie for me was not putting so many cinematographic effects in where they weren't needed. Like that 360-degree shot of Prince Dastan (I mean, the city looked awesome, but really?), or that one time where he leaped out of a window in slow-mo and pounced on a soldier below, or that 10-second scene of him and the Princess kissing when the world was about to end... Yeah, you could have cut any of that shit completely out (well, not the kissing scene, but you could have cut that down). I mean, the scene was long enough for me to roll my eyes, curse whoever came up with letting them stare at each other for that long, AND tell them to get a fucking move on because, hello, the fucking evil guy was almost at the sand glass you twits.

So, if it wasn't for those unneeded, dramatic shots, I would have given this movie AT LEAST a 4/5, but, as it is, It's only getting a 3.7/5 from me.

My head is a mess.

I guess when I'm left to my own devices for so long, I start going down that path that I always tend to default to when there's nothing to occupy my mind or when I've found I've hit a bump in my very uneventful and, what some would say, fortunate life.

I don't know when it started, but I think I've completely lost all motivation to do... well... anything really, and I don't think that's very good considering I'm only 21, only halfway to being 22.

I feel naive sometimes, young, but not in an impressionable way (I'm long past that point in my life). I don't know what it is... This semester has just really taken its toll on me (and my GPA). I've got regrets, but in my mind I shrug them off, and I know that it shouldn't be like this - I shouldn't be this uncaring about my future.

Speaking of, I have no idea what the hell I plan to do with my life anymore. I've pretty much decided that new media isn't the way to go and I actually felt some relief that I'm not the only one who has decided to change their career path while in college. The only problem is, unlike that person, I'm completely lost as to what I plan to do with myself now.

I wish I could pick apart my own brain and figure out what would be best for me, but every time I try to think of something that I want to do I come up empty-handed. I've always been interested in science, but that's too broad of a subject to just randomly go into, although if things keep going as they are, taking random science classes might hurt me a lot less than stop going to classes altogether.

Six Ways to Sunday

Besides, it's his fault for looking so cute. Not mine at all. Nope.

This movie is pretty messed up. And by "messed up" I mean I'm going to be scarred for life because of it. Well, not really. But it was a bit disturbing at some parts, or one part in particular, but they didn't show anything. Thank goodness.

There was no one seeding the torrent, so I had to d/l it off of RS (which is complete shit, lemme tell you) and then I find out that it's dubbed in Russian. I was joking earlier that I'd kill myself if I found it had Russian dubs because the site that uploaded was in Russian. I should have known better than to jinx myself.

Anyway, I understood the gist of what was going on. I turned the audio off while I was watching it though. I figured I'd go through it once so I could take screenshots. Plus, listening to 4minute while watching someone get shot in the back makes it seem less... I don't know... violent? haha.

It's cold. 寒い。

I'm going to see how long I can last without tweeting. I've gone one hour without it so far since I woke up.

I've been attempting to go through Norman Reedus's filmography, but it's kind of difficult for me since I'm not a thriller/horror type, and that's pretty much what he does, haha. Boondock Saints being the exception, and maybe Blade II, but only because that's not really a thriller/horror... more like a supernatural movie? Fuck if I know.

Anyway, Mother's gone for the weekend, so I'm left alone in the house (well, not alone if you count my bitch of a dog) without a car... Not that I'd go anywhere even if I had one, but it's nice just knowing that you can go somewhere if, for example, there was a tornado warning and I needed to head over to my relatives' house. Our basement isn't really made to withstand tornadoes.

Oh, and I've been re-reading Karneval. I should really read the books I bought... I got them two years ago and I still haven't found time (or haven't had the motivation) to read them.
